Getting Around Grand Bahama
Getting around Grand Bahama is easy and surprisingly affordable. Choose between rental cars, motor scooters, buses and taxis – even water taxis. Bicycles, however, are not easily available to rent.
The three most popular methods of transportation in Freeport are by Minibus, Auto Taxi and Water Taxi. We have provided you with some information about each below.
Jitney minibuses are the most used and most popular form of transportation on the island. They are also quite affordable. A ride from the Freeport Airport airport to Taino Beach Resort or Flamingo Bay Hotel and Marina will cost you about $27 each way for two people, and an extra $3 for each additional passenger. Roundtrip transportation by minibus from Freeport Airport to the Freeport Cruise Port is $87.42
By Auto Taxi:
Auto Taxis in Freeport are easy to find and are usually quicker than driving on your own. However, many cabs are in poor condition, as well as some of the roads, so your taxi ride might be a bit rough.
By Water Taxis:
Some of the higher end hotels will offer their own transportation for getting around. Flamingo Bay Hotel and Marina provides a ferryboat every hour from 8:00am -11:00pm. that will take you to Port Lucaya. The cost is $2.50 one way per person.
